Well it’s a merry Christmas from Smart Cow Marketing

Well it’s a very merry Christmas from us at Smart Cow Marketing.  And what a year it has been, we launched Smart Cow Marketing in February this year.  Despite a few bumps on the road it has been an excellent time.

We have got some great new clients and really appreciate your support, we offer a proud of products and services we have delivered over the year and especially likely to the team at we mean business in Croydon in November.

Now and then

2012

So, as well as starting Smart Cow Marketing, we have also formed new partnerships with Microsoft, Google, Constant Contact and mojoPortal to name but a few.

We also enhanced our technology skills added some exciting new features to our websites as well as integrating with online stores.

2013

And on to next year we have got some exciting times ahead of us. With new developments from Google AdWords and the rapid increase of social marketing we will certainly have had time cut out for ourselves. But we’re really looking forward to the challenges ahead as well as delivering some great websites.

Predictions?

So, as long as the world does not end on the 21st of December as predicted by the myan prophecy, we are looking forward to some exciting new developments. Google AdWords is developing at such a fast pace making it easier and simpler to manage your own AdWords campaign, however we are always here to help with a more detailed and advanced campaigns.

Video in websites will become more and more frequent and businesses will have to learn to be even more savvy with presenting in front of the camera.  With the bandwidth ever increasing and different mobile technologies coming to the a front the life of online marketing has never been so exciting.

But most of all we wish you all had a merry Christmas and a prosperous 2013.

Cow Tipping: Three great tips for your business

We believe in building strong trusted relationships between business and so would like to share some of our in-depth expertise and knowledge with you.  This Blog is about 3 things that can really help your business.

1) Call to action

Many times we are asked to create a marketing campaign for a business, such as a pay per click AdWords campaign that would drive business to their website. AdWords is great as you can direct potential clients from their search criteria (Keywords). to specific pages on your website as opposed to the homepage that comes up in a normal search.

The problem that we often get is that the landing pages don’t allow the potential customer to do anything. You need a call to action. At the very least this is a visible email and telephone number, but often an offer or a free gift in return for a sign up to a newsletter or Facebook like.

2) JFDI

It doesn’t matter how good you are or how well the plan is nothing will happen without putting the effort in. Just f**king Do It (JFDI).

Get prepared and then just do it. Nothing will happen if you leave your light under a bushel. You’re great, tell people. Yes, you may make mistakes, but that will be few and far between.

If you spend two weeks preparing a newsletter that could be done in two hours, just because you wanted to be absolutely perfect, you may be putting your efforts into the wrong areas.

Of course, do what you do extremely well, however even the best and biggest companies make mistakes often!

Don’t worry JFDI.

3) Analytics

Make sure that your site has analytics in it. The most popular and one of the best is Google analytics. This uses cookies to capture your visitors information such as where they came from (great marketing info), how long they stayed and what pages they went to. All this information is invaluable to tell you how well your shop front of your website is working for you.

As said, Google analytics uses cookies so you will have to adhere to the cookie law and let visitors know, but this is a very small price to pay with regards to the benefits you will get.

Which email software?

We obviously spend a lot of time using and assessing various types of email software.

They all have certain benefits and features as well as their drawbacks. We have spent a lot of effort testing out the options and have come up with a recommendation.

What’s on offer

Email and newsletter solutions appear to be everywhere. This can be from basic outlook address book or using the Newsletter feature that is embedded in one of our CMS systems, these will certainly do the job and get your message out. However, there is more to it than just sending the emails and if you want to take a step further then best go for one of the big boys.

This being Dot Mailer, Mail Chimp and Constant contact.

Dot Mailer v Mail Chimp v Constant Contact?

Having tested out all the options we can see benefits to them all.

Dot Mailer

A great solution for a large mailing list and larger companies. They are on the pricier side but have a great package in the ability to create send and track emails. Additional options such as auto send are at a premium though. A big benefit for UK businesses are that they are British and also that they will allow info@ addresses.

Mail Chimp

A very popular option with small businesses these days and great for a start up business, however be aware if you are in the UK there is little support from the US. Mail chimp is cheaper than Dot mailer and offers auto responder options but does not allow info@ addresses. Be careful in that you tend to get what you pay for.

Constant Contact

Finally, constant contact, this seemed to tick all the boxes with functionality, and cost. OK, this is a US based business, however the support and tutorials are fantastic. The amount of benefits and add ons are excellent and we thoroughly recommend them.
